blacklady: (what the hell)
A storm had rolled just before the sun had set, casting an eery greenish glow across the city of Tokyo. The wind picked up, rain began to fall, and then came the thunder and lightning. Anyone caught outside without an umbrella would surely be soaked by now. Most had retreated indoors when the light show started, so there weren't many people around to witness as lightning struck a utility pole causing a brilliant flash of light and a resounding crack of thunder. Near the bottom of the pole where water rushed along the curb, a scorched circle was left that singed a nearby sign along the road. What was inside the circle was the most curious thing of all.

A pink-haired young woman, dressed all in black, was curled up and shivering in that place, unaware of her current situation. From her perspective she was having a terrible nightmare, one filled with the most vivid lightning and thunder that left the ears ringing. She twitched and turned, a hand splashing down into the rushing water beside her. It was enough to bring her out of it, not that the scenery was much different from what she'd been experiencing. Where was she? How did she get there? Her mind was a complete blank, thrown into chaos by the means of her arrival. She reached up to touch her forehead where a shimmering gold moon crescent changed to black then to gold again as it faded from sight. A crack of thunder forced her to sit up on her knees, glancing back and forth down the dark, empty street. After the lightning strike, the power had blinked out making the scenery all the more ominous. A pair of red eyes peering into the darkness wouldn't help matters any.

The Shadow Machine Empire had outdone themselves this time. The various sailor-suited warriors of this nexus had thwarted their plans consistently, but thanks to their practiced and dangerous arts of fusing both science and magic they had managed to produce a warrior that could defeat any senshi foe it came across. At least, that was the hope.

Using an ancient and powerful amorphous blob of energy and imbuing it constantly with dark arts, the Machine Empire managed to create a foe that could copy and download any Senshi ability it came across. For a start, the Machine Empire's workers managed to download the scattered information they managed to collect already; a version of the dark-powered Sailor Mercury. Naturally, that wasn't enough, and so their new super-weapon was sent to a nexus point to gather more data.

With a flash, 'Dark Mercury' touched down on a city roof-top, still a bit dazed. Eyes flashing, she took a moment to observe her surroundings. "Seeking data. No data." Troublesome, but not insurmountable. If nothing came into her sensor range soon, she'd simply cause some mischief down below. That would perhaps serve to bring out her quarry. Finding a version of Dark Mercury so as to finish her current fragmented data would be helpful, but in truth any Senshi would do.

{{ Okay, if you ever wanted to fight a mirrored version of yourself, now is the opportunity! This foe is starting off as Sailor Mercury, but if she encounters anyone else, she'll shift to match the Magical Girl fighting her.}}

The looks on their faces.

Rei was fuming. Ami was pale. And Minako, well, Minako was the mistress of tranquil fury. Though she's the one who spoke as Makoto entered the Crown Karaoke Parlor, entered the secret base for the first time. "What do you want?" Not even a name; apparently what she had done, in the name of the future, was so abhorrent that she had lost that right. It didn't matter though; she had only come to do one thing.

Lifting a hand, three bracelets and one necklace floated into view, all three girls' eyes lighting up. "Kino-san..." Ami's voice, a hopeful little utterance. Makoto's expression didn't change, lightning gathering in an orb around the items floating above her hand. It was Minako's turn to go pale, the idol shaking her head.

There was a fierce crackle, and a small explosion took place in Makoto's hand, filling the room with light. As it faded, Makoto opened her hand, fine dust flowing out between her fingers, falling to the floor in useless ash. "I just came to return these."

Rei was on her in a flash, slapping the soldier of thunder so hard Makoto was certain a burn would be left behind. "How?! How could you let the Dark Kingdom do this to you?!"

A return slap was given by Makoto as she glared at the priestess, knocking the other brunette into the table. "If you would have all opened your eyes and actually tried to remember, then I wouldn't need to take such measures! The enemy is that girl, the crystal that rests inside her, the past life she's doomed to repeat."

Minako took her turn to tear into Makoto as Ami looked at Rei's reddened cheek. "Because of you, Usagi is-"

"In a coma. I know. I went to see her."

"You have no right-!"

"It is my job as a soldier to protect this planet from all threats. Within and without. I tried to explain what I know, but you will not listen. You are all unfit to protect this world. Especially Tsukino Usagi." Makoto fixed them all with a steely glare. "Take your blessings that she is merely in a coma." She had tied to draw out the Crystal from the comatose girl, but failed. Obviously. "I will only tell you this one more time: Serenity cares for nothing but Endymion. She will destroy everything unless she's dead or the Crystal destroyed. You better pray she never wakes up, because when she does... I'll be waiting." Makoto clenched her hands. "This planet is protected!"

Silence filled the room, only interrupted by Ami's Teletia-S ringing. After a hushed conversation, the three girls hurried out of the room, all shooting glances at Makoto as they left. Either Usagi's condition had improved, or it had worsened. Alone, Makoto sighed and rested a hand on the forming bruise on her face, unaware someone had seen everything that just went down.

The orphanage was incredibly quiet at this time of night. Everyone was asleep and that included the nuns, so of course that meant Bethebel had to be careful tiptoeing past them. The wooden floors creaked ominously as she swept past; though she had excuses ready should anyone wake, she was aware that she risked a beating.

She didn't care. There was something downstairs she wanted to do and she could only do it while the noro were all asleep.

And so any who find themselves in this corner of the Nexus will find a frizzy-haired girl, huddling in a room with a single candle lit, looking at a book. Its been slow, slow, slow work, but--she thinks she's starting to get the reading down.

It had been a time since Usagi had been pulled from the Nexus. A long time since she had last seen Demand. But in all the time away, she could honestly say she never forgot. She loved him, and that knowledge was enough to keep her feelings intact. Her ardor never cooled; she could only hope his stayed the same.

In the meantime, a lot had happened: she had graduated from Mugen Gakuen, near the top of the class, and gotten into her first choice university: Joshibi University of Art and Design in Tokyo. She had found out late at Mugen that she had a way with fashion, and she needed something to do besides wait for the Nexus to reconnect with her. Dorm living didn't suit her, so she opted for an apartment, living on her own for the first time, away from her family. It was small, but it suited her. She made it work.

She still worked at Maid's Gift, on the weekends and days off, and during the summer. And whenever she wasn't in her maid uniform, she wore a piece of jewelry that Demand had given her. Today, it was the earrings, her hair framing them, but not hiding them from view. After a day of working at Maid's Gift, Usagi sighed and re-entered her apartment, unaware that the Nexus had re-connected her.

Saturn's room is spacious, but spartan-like. The walls a pale white, the furniture all dark wood, the only splashes of colour coming from the many books stored neatly in the many bookshelves and the blanket on the bed, a deep purple. It's not the room of a teenage girl, too neat, too bare but this is the life this Saturn lives. Possessions are meaningless to her, a soldier, a weapon, has no need for them.

And yet today she isn't dressed like a weapon, a purple gown covering her from her neck to her toes. The gloves are gone though, impractical at this time, as she tests the strings of her violin, checks their tightness. Then she stands, and makes her way to the window, instrument gripped in her hand as she stares down at the glittering city, night cloaking it in her protective arms.

And then she starts to play, eyes closed as she loses herself to the music.

[ooc: For a small bit of backstory, this Saturn is taken from the old musebox on lj, who is an older potential future for the younger Hotaru who lived in "poisonverse". Essentially instead of being killed, Mercury used the ties young Hotaru had to her to turn the girl to her side and she obeys Mercury and the Shitennou without question. Once again, it's the moon. Rubble and ruin. But a bit happier this time. There is music, from a small music box resting on a pillow. Yuzuki had found some treasures under the rubble: the music box, some sheets that were still clean (minus the burnt edges), a few bits of royal finery, and a broach. It's heart-shaped, antiquated, but it looks familiar. Holding it close helps her keep her memory, keep her sane, and it's pinned to her dress, a small splash of riches against her plain dress.

She was setting up a 'room' of sorts, amongst four pillows that remained standing. She strung up sheets, giving it a warm feel. A makeshift bed is made on the flat ground, of sheets bundled up. It's only about half a bed, but some comfort was better than none. There's even a pillow, a flat one, but a pillow nonetheless. No matter how many times she went to earth, she always came back here. She had to make it feel like home somehow...

As the music box slowed, Yuzuki perked up and moved to rewind it, to keep it playing. The music was all the had, all the noise she could get. It had to keep going.

[ Siiiiiigh.

It's hard, stressful work trying to find a good target. That's especially true for one Sailor Aluminum Seiren, since she's more or less used to having Crow's help when it comes to that task. She's trying, though, but she doesn't seem to be having much luck.

Naturally that means it's time for a little snack break!

Pizza, anyone? ]

[Oh it's been a long day. A familiar odango-styled head of blonde hair sinks lower and lower into a plush armchair. The hair and face are certainly familiar to most incidental residents of the nexus, but this incarnation herself is a newcomer. New as well, to those who might know the blonde otherwise, would be her style of clothes, and the fact that leaning against the chair next to her is a rapier.

There's an old, hand-drawn map laid out in front of her with little flagged pins sticking up from it. Blue flags dominate the map, but black flags are at a spare few points. And in front of the map, closest to hers, is a giant slice of cake.

Blue eyes peek over the icing from slumped way down in her chair, and they seem to sparkle a little. She shifts and straightens a little bit, then a bit more, then finally she looms over the cake like a predator to it's cornered prey, and she picks up a fork with no less murderous intent.

The girl takes a giant bite, and hums a happy noise as she sinks against the back of the chair again and chews with a near dreamy look on her face.

Come interrupt her thoughts?

{{ooc: This is General Moon/Tsukino Usagi from the country of Orlean. Think similar in style to the Earth Kingdom in the Silver Millenium, but with a different story. Come say hi :D }}

Dong. Dong.

Twenty little girls, all dressed in white and purple habit, were all lined up in a row, silent as death in a dark, dank convent. They were getting ready for the day, wearing the clothing which signified them as orphans.

Of course, there were more than twenty girls in the orphanage. But not all of them were good enough to go outside and be adopted, or even be looked at. Bethebel was one of them. So she was in the main bedroom, sitting on her bedroll, idly staring at the floor.

She knew she was going to be called down to clean the soup kitchen. That was all she was good for, right? She hated it. But she was a kid; she had no friends, not family.

What could she do?
